Braun 5550 Shaver Battery?

Can one still get a replacement board/battery for the 5550? Mine no longer holds a charge for more than about 5 minutes runtime.

Paul,
You say to remove the two tabs each side of the power connector. Which two tabs? On my 5550 I have a grey panel with "Braun 5550" printed on it and one with various symbols. How are these panels tremoved?

No matter, Ive found it. You remove the two tabs each side of the power connector. There are two screws underneath. Remove these screws, and the insides pull out from the top.

Hi, how do you take this shaver apart? It's not obvious from the outside!

Paul, August 2010
Definitely. I've replaced mine twice. (Great shaver). Any shaver repair shop should be able to supply it.

The only possible problem is that the battery charge level indicator may be affected. Apparently Braun made these an integral part of the battery assembly and some assemblies aren't compatible with some shavers. Go figure....
