how can i fix my emachine 768N monitor?

when i turn on the monitor a box pops up that is red blue and green ..it says self test, check your pc, and signal cable, monitor is working.......i tried another pc and that wasnt the problem i tried making sure the plugs were in all the way and they were i dont know what to do now.

it means that your monitor does not get a signal from the computer. It is most likely the cable. make sure it is plugged in right. Then test the computer: borrow a laptop and connect the monitor to it (you must press some key like F6 or so). If that works the grafic card in your computer might be hosed. you can get a replacement at best buy for $50. let them put it into the computer. If the lap top does not work there is a bad connection in the cable outside or inside the monitor. ***BEWARE*** that inside the monitor is a capacitor which stores electricity even an hour after you unplugged the monitor. Do not open the monitor if you dont know what you are doing!!!!!

Usually the self-test implies that the monitor is fine. You have eliminated the pc being the fault by trying another pc so its definately not the pc.
I would try unplugging all cables from the monitor (whatever is possible), and then holding down the on/off button on the monitor for 30 seconds. Plug the cables back into the monitor and re-wire it to your computer. Once this is done, switch your emachine pc on and keep tapping Del to get into the BIOS.

If you get the same result, check the connections and check for any bent or missing pins. Only other way to make sure it is the monitor is to try another monitor on your computer!

Other than this, you'll be looking at getting a new monitor, or ringing the manufacturer if in warranty
