when i turn my cars engine off, the fan seems to continue running. it runs on for around 5 - 10 minutes. and when i switch the engine on, the engine splutters and on the dashboard the heat gauge reaches the top (the red bit). this is making me very anxious as i dont have a clue whats going on. i have taken it to the garage three times (one of which was a specialist) and they all said nothing was wrong but it doesnt seem like that to me.
please does anyone know whats happening and what i can do.
thank you

If you are loosing water - check excess condensation from exhaust - you may have either a thermostat jammed ( in that case replace ) or a small headgasket leak - I have had sucess with faulty headgasket by adding a product called steelseal to the coolant - mine was well steaming and after adding the steelseal a month ago engine is still running fine and NO water loss - hope you are as lucky

Your in the wrong section you want cars
Check the fan is kicking in if it is but is still overheating it could be the thermostat or the head gasket is leaking. But if still not sure copy and paste your question in to the cars section at bottom of forum.
