Drum fails to rotate?

I have a Hoover Quattro 1300 washer/dryer, the machine goes through all the programes adding water etc but the drum does not move. I have moved the drum by hand, I have even put it on the spin cycle but nothing works.

more than likely the motor brushes are worn out or clogged up with carbon deposits-get a electrician to clean or change them. Temp fix.... ensure all electrical POWER IS OFF then lightly tap brush holders this may restore operation for a short while [week or so]

I'm experiencing the same problem with a Hotpoint machine, suspecting the motor brushes have worn down, i got the answer back that it is the usual failure with machines of a certain age/ usage.
