My Potterton Prima F boiler keeps igniting then going out?

Can Anybody Help.
I have a Potterton Prima F Boiler, I guess about 14 years old.
Its been working perfectly up until Monday when it started to play up.
Basically the boiler lights, it runs for around a miniute or 2 then the gas seems to pulse and it cuts out.
And the cycle continues like this until i turn it off, its also becoming very hot to the touch on the outside casing.
Can anybody out there help me.
Many thanks

The circulating water pump is not working. This causes the boiler to turn off with over-temperature. Or the boiler themostat is faulty, but you say the casing is very hot so this is probably not the fault here. I had the same problem. Do not be confused if the pump feels as if it is running. Mine has sheared off the impeller. The water pipes should feel hot on BOTH sides of the pump. Hope this helps
