how do you remove carbon brushes?

hi
how do i remove the carbon brushes from the motor of hotpoint electronic 1000 plus they dont want to come out have got the teminal connections off but thats about it

use a small screw driver. the brush has a containing lip on it underneath. Use a small screw driver to lift it up and pull at same time.
