why does the water pump not operate for hot water but does for radiators?

The heating system gets hot ok, but the hot water does not get as hot as it used to. i notice that the pump operates straight away if i put heating on, but does not when i put only the hot water on. is this an eletrical fault.

My boiler uses water pressure to feed hot water to taps, sometimes the temperature changes when other appliances are on or when the water board are doing work in my area. However, the boiler will only allow hot water through at a certain rate anyway.

My pump only works for central heating.

from what you describe its sounds like an old system, with older systems hot water was supplied by gravity and the heating used the pump.
