recovery disk?

i am trying to use my recovery disk for asus laptop, but cannot get it to upload, what is the proper way to do this, once started i am ok for doing drivers etc, just need to get started. cheers for any help.

Go into the BIOS settings and temporarily set the CD/DVD drive as the boot device.
