How do I repair my front door frame that was kick in?

My front door at my house was kicked in. MY door is not wood, so when it was kicked, there was no damage to the door, but to the frame. The door has a standard knob and a deadbolt. The wood frame that the deadbolt goes into is broken into two pieces. So if I close my door and lock the deadbolt, the deadbolt has nothing holding it. I cannot put the plate back on as that is the piece where the wood is broke.

any chance you gentlemen who know the jargon can put it into laymans terms(for us women) that cant afford a proper joiner but are good at diy....
Thanks

can you epoxy the two pieces together? If you can, then test fit it into the door frame where the dead bolt and lock go in. hold the piece with BLUE painters tape (cover the plate complertly) and then try to lock it. if it does not quite fit, brush some "white out" onto the face of one of the lock. the test locking one of the locks real easy and the lock with the "white out" will make marks on the blue tape. you can then either adust where the broken jam is, or you can file/cut a little bit of the lock plates and try it again. once you get both locks to work ok, you can then replace the screws.

simply replace that part of the frame that is broke, If you cant find a part that matches the rest of the frame then replace the whole frame.
