My computer will start and says that it will not start successfully and then lists the options to start in safe mode, safe mode with networking, most recent working mode, safe mode with correction, and safe mode will work, most recent will look like it is going to work and then goes back to this screen again. It makes a static noise when it goes back to the dos screen. Suggestions?

I think maybe a simple solution would be to reinstall the operating system, using a boot disk or if you have a bootable CD

I have never come across this problem, but when I've had similar problems, I just reinstall the OS and usually corrects the problem.
