Heat Surge unit shuts down?

Twice my Amish heater shut down. I unplugged it, waited 5 min., plugged it in and it started for about an hour and repeated.

I have two that are acting up as well. Beginning to believe it was a bad investment.

Not so happy, October 2014
I have 3 of these heaters. 1 is the earlier model with no thermostat. They all three are doing the same thing, shutting down. the later 2 were only used for 6 months. There is a real problem with these heaters. They seem to last just long enough that they are out of warranty. I am going to find out what it will cost to repair.I am sure it will be half of what I paid for the heaters. If so I will turn them into book cases.

Rick,
There are several factors that may cause your Heat Surge unit to shut down. First make sure the air intakes on back are not blocked by curtains of furnature. Next make sure you heater in not placed near a HVAC supply vent or radient heat source. Finally, if your unit is equiped with a thermostat, make sure it is all the way up or turned to the right. The fireplace has many safety features and one is auto shut dow if the unit gets too hot. all of the issues mentioned above could cause this. If you check all of these issues and the unit is still beeping repeatedly and shutting down, then there is some mechanical issue. If you are within your warranty call the company. If not, the company is opening up to 6000 repair centers to service customers soon, early Feb 2011 so their is hope if you are out of warranty. call them for details.
