Fixing to a flat roof?

I want to install a large floor standing double awning to a flat roof terrace, however this would mean piercing the roof membrane. How can I fix it to the roof so it is secure and watertight?

try using flashing tape, Its a silver tape with bitumen underneath and is available from most good hardware stores.
