Hello from the future I have the same problem that my camera was working perfectly until switching to RAW mode. I tried to shot raw pictures (for lesson) and camera started to shutting down while saving raw picture. After that my camera doesnt turning on because of card read error. I formatted card and the camera started to work again but I didnt use for 4 months. Today I checked camera again and it didnt work on photo mode. I formatted again and recrated files to card, it started to see photos but not switching to camera mode. (I tried with batteries and adapter)

I will buy a new camera soon but I want to keep this as secondary camera. Thanks...

Our camera does the same thing, the microswitch is ok, and it starts up for picture view mode, but not in photo mode :( The switch is OK :(

Check the tab on the xd card door. At the top of the card door is a plastic tab which passes through the camera case by the xd slot and activates a micro switch. This is a saftey "cut out" to prevent accidental removal of the xd card while the camera is switched on. If the tab is not damaged then there could be a fault with the switch. Also try using a fuji 5v ac adapterto see if it powers up ok with mains. If thats not ok then start checking the fuses
