How do I repair windows 2003 on my PC?

My windows 2003 word application is as slow as a tortoise and takes for ever to open a document, how do you fix that without cost?

If that fails... try backing up all your documents first... then Uninstall Word.... Reboot... and Re-Install word again..!!!

Do a disk cleanup and defrag.
