Has anyone spray painted a Tizio lamp without causing damage?

I have two Tizio lamps in silver and would like to change them to black by spray painting them. However, I wouldn't want the paint to interfere with the electrical current. Not sure if it's ok or simply a bad idea.

Suggest complete dis-assembly before painting. Even the paint may cause an out of balance condition. Ensure that all poppers are tight before painting and mask carefully. There's no mystery about it but it is rather tedious. Ultimately suggest selling the silver and purchasing a used black one...the silver are much more rare especially here in the States. Someone else may desperately want a silver one and pay good money for it instead!
