A post is what this is. My suggestion was that you put one in the DVD section as this is for TVs. When you do so, say if it has ever worked or justr recently started doing this. It could need a cleaning DVD or you may be putting DVDs with the the wrong Region in. (In Europe we are Region 2 - US is Region 1.)

i have used prerecorded dvd's that have been bought from the shop. not quite sure what you mean about putting a post on

You don't say what kind of disk you are using. Prerecorded, or from a recorder or what? Matsui are a Currys (aka Dixons) own brand - have you spoken to them? Finally if this doesn't help you may want to put a post on the DVD player section rather than the TV one - which is what this is.
