how to refit a stannah chair back on to track?

I am just in the process of fitting a stairlift that a neighbour let me have --I have cut it down from 13 steps to 7 --and was wondering if there are any tips to refitting the chair--it is very heavy and awkward to hold just would like any tips---thanks DGW
