please help me fix my dimplex xms724n?

I bought it brand new about 18-20 months ago, stopped working when my friend leaned on it, we saw a small flash in the vent and the heater stopped recieving power (the light on the wall switch went out) and hasn't worked since, i was told the thermostat cut outs were burnt out (there was a few clear brown scorch mark on the circular thermostat terminals) tried to go through warranty but it was outside the dates allowed so I bought the suggested repair kit (9509013) and fitted it to replace the thermostat cut outs. The heater still doesn't work, not reciveing power etc. I'm not sure if the thermostat input is the issue but I don't want to spend another £40-£50 on another part if I'm going to have to replace the heater...

Any suggestions APPRICIATED!

You say the light on the wall switch went out, surely this would point you to the supply ( fuse or ciruit breaker )or the switch itself. Has the spur unit got a fuse in it?
