If you press WHAT tightly? A simple "it" can be just about anything...

It may mean that there could be a false contact somewhere.

By "at the Dell logo", do you mean the splash screen after the POST, and BEFORE the login screen?

It looks like it's a model from around 2003, that's about 9 years old. It may be time to think about updating to a more current laptop...
