Getting e-machine onboard graphics to work?

Hi, my grandson's (florida, 400i3) e-machine had onboard graphics at purchase. He added an nVidia card but now has removed it and now we cannot get onboard graphics to work ... the monitor isn't recognized at all. We moved the j1 jumper as specified to appropriate pins to enable the built-in graphics. Has anyone a solution? I'm afraid we needed to switch something in the bios before switching. We retried the nVidia card but no recognition of monitor with it now, either. Thanks for any help. Miki

sorry that should say tap F8 repeatedly...if PC starts in normal mode shut down and try again

start your pc in safe mode....(tap F8) as you boot up....this is tricky on some Pcs as timing must be right. once started in safe mode right click my computer..choose properties...device manager...then click the + sign on monitor single click the monitor and choose remove..this remove the monitor from your system when you reboot your pc will find it and install a default driver for it....as for the graphics card in the bios you will find a function for graphics it will offer primary source of either onboard or PCI set this to onboard that should fix your problem
