Unfortunately you do not specify what the formats and containers the video files are.
Also if you don’t want to potentially buy an additional adapter then knowing what free sockets you have on your TV (e.g.HDMI, SCART, etc) would have helped.

One of the media players with a very good reputation for being able to play many different containers and formats is the Sumvision Cyclone micro 2 and the Sumvision Cyclone micro 3. The main issue being that the remote is not very responsive and you may want to replace it. The Amazon reviews contain some suggestions.

If you are unsure about video formats avoid the original Sumvision Cyclone micro (the one without a 2 or a 3 in the name).

An alternative is to look up what video formats the TV can play and then use free conversion software when ever you want to play a new video.
Unfortunately it may take a lot of trial and error to locate the best free conversion software for you particular circumstances, (i.e. TV, computer and the videos’ formats and containers, time and patience).

Examples of containers are:
MKV, AVI, TS, TP, MP4, MPV, MOV, VOB, PMP, RM, RMVB, MPG,
M2TS and WMV.

Examples of video/audio formats are:
MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, XVID, H.264, H.263, WMV, VC-1, RMVB, MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, APE, AAC, AC3

What ever you buy you will need to check before buying that you can easily connect it to an avaialble socket on the TV.

Your TV simply does not have the function needed to play back video. I'm afraid that there is no fix for this. You will need an external device such as a DVD player.
