Fluctuating D.H.W temperature.Ferroli Modena 102?

The D.H.W from my Ferroli Modena 102 fluctuates from hot to cold whilst filling the bath or taking a shower (mixer tap shower) and also at basins. The burner comes on for approx 15 seconds then switches off, firing up again approx 10 seconds later in a continuous cycle. All other operations seem to be fine.I have replaced the D.H.W flow temperature sensor but this has had no effect. Are there any further checks I can make before having to call out a proffessional?

The central heating goes on standby but does not actually come in on the Ferroli Modena 102. The water heating system is okay.

Had the same problem as Les. took off fan housing.( 2 screws , then tilt up ,so it unhooks at the back) the red part of venturi was smashed to pieces inside. replaced that (£6) and fingers crossed all ok now !!

is changing the venturi a job for the experts ? or competent diy ??

its probably the venturi tube situated inside the fan casing replace with kit about £10.00.

Phil Hardaker is the man!! I've had this same problem for ages and i'm not exactly Mr. DIY so i asked my father in law, he thought it may be a sensor. I'd had enough so i followed Phils instructions and it's working perfectly again, cheers Phil

Phil, you are a star. I had the same problem, cleaned the connector and now back to normal. Nice one.

I had this problem, the burner coming on when running a hot bath, shower or just hot water to do the washing up,the burner kept going off then coming back on every 15 seconds or so,so i followed the advice of Phil Hardaker and removed yellow and green connector and blew out debris and brushed connector clean, refitted and replaced cover and it worked.
Thanks again.

Steve Collins, December 2008
it might be you have a dirty or broken venturi, which operates the air pressure switch. it is located in the fan housing and costs abut £5.

Dave Steele, December 2007
At the top of the boiler is the fan and copper coil. There are two fan electrical connectors side by side on the top front of the copper coil. Behind these is a single connector, usually green and yellow wiring. This connector can collect dust etc meaning intermittent firing.

Pull the connector off the contact and give it, and the contact, a good blow, freeing it of dust etc.

Reconnect and the problem should be solved. Remember to turn the boiler off first.

Regards

Phil
