Hi there..........most common fault will be the batteries.....but first check that the stairlift has not been turned off on the mains supply to the white charger unit under rail top/bottom of stairs, it will feel warm if it has not been turned off,if it has you will need to turn back on and leave the batteries to fully charge up [24hrs]....If all switched on and ok, you will need to test the batteries with a meter[THE LIFE OF BATTERIES ARE BETWEEN 3 AND 5 YEARS].You could also check the orange wire inline fuse holder between the batteries,[On the 300 model before yours this use to cause arcing problems,causing a fault as described by you]] Hope this helps.......paul/portsmouth/uk
