Cant figure out where to start?

Whirlpool washing machine just stopped in the middle of a small load with water still in it. Try to manually advance it and it makes a humming noise, but will not drain, spin, or turn... Where do I start looking for the problem at???

Sounds like the belt has come off or broken,you can either tip it forward or take the back off to have a look,either way UNPLUG MACHINE FROM MAINS.
