My radiant RS24E/70-90boiler shows a red light?

When my boiler should come on it doesn't .It will not ignite and the red light is on.I have to turn the power off and on again and it fires up and runs fine until the timer is telling it to switch off. Nobody seems able to find the problem,is it time for a new boiler?

I am not a boiler engineer and have no experience of them...

I have no idea what your Red Light is supposed to indicate - good or bad you do not say... However...

Consider Central Heating - the timer makes a call for heat and the boiler fires up and runs until the room thermostat is satisfied - then it shuts down until the room thermostat asks the boiler for more heat. This cycle continues - the boiler continuously firing up and shutting down.

Then the timer removes the call for heat and it's all switched off...

Then when the timer asks (appears to ask) for the system to start up again nothing happens until you turn the mains power off and on again.

Well - you know the boiler can cope with an on and off cycle - it looks to me that the timer is somehow defective - I suspect a dodgy timer.

Good Luck..., November 2016
