if you turn off your computer and plug in the mp3 player
then turn on the computer with the device attached, windows will try to fix it as a drive. worked with my mikomi mp3 player twice when the files got corrupted, i have windows xp
i dont about earlier versions of windows but maybe a friend would have xp on their computer you could try.
trick is to attach the device to the pc first then power up the computer. good luck
