just in the last month or so I am getting numerous messages rejecting spam messages which I have apparently sent. (ie from my address) Needless to say I know nothing of them. Can anyone tell me what is happening?
Someone is sending spam using your email address. This doesn't mean they have compromised your email account. They won't have. It is easy to send email "from" any email address.
The best thing to do is to use Spam Filtering software and ignore the problem.

You possibly have picked up a self mailing virus/worm or maybe someone is using your details. I suggest you try using a virus scan to flush out any naughties on your pc, and change your email account password.
