water from back of Triton opal shower?

Suddenly yesterday my Triton opal shower started to leak water from the small plastic tube at the botton of the shower unit. I asked a family friend and they think this happens because there is some sort of fault with the shower and this is a safety feature. Has anyone any ideas, or is a new shower what is needed and that this one is beyond repair.

your prv is leaking (pressure releif valve) may be due to shower head blocked with limescale or the filter gauze on the mains water pipe in shower feed blocked.
