Google Darik's Boot and Nuke this program will completely wipe your HDD and then write over it with random 1's and 0's making recovery of any info that was on the drive imposable (even with some of the best file recovery software). then load you windows install disk and reinstall.

When you f-disk you still leave magnetic information behind. Format it, load XP install and re-format (not quick format). Then check the volume with CIA Un-Erase. All you really need to remove though is any emails and personal information. There is much hype surrounding 'phishers' of HDD info which is greatly exaggerated. The only TRUE way to completely erase your HDD is to put it in proximity to a strong electromagnetic wave, shame you want it to work afterwards lol
