How do I fix a school house Regulator wall clock?

I bought this clock at a garage sale for $5.00. It's a Ridgeway, this is all the info on the inside of the clock. Dial-H4, Modle-758, Movement-G4, Finish- Oak, Serial-2/29/84. Also on the back plate of the movement housing is, 84 Frank Hermel no (0) Jewles, made in West Germany, 341-020, 45cm(over) 101.05. I have wound the 3 spots on the face with the key, & nothing happens. The pendulan wont swing, it wont keep time, & nothing moves (on it's own) in the movement housing. I can move the hands on the face of the clock, & then things move & turn in the movement housing, the chime dose get triggerd & gose off. After you wiend it up, it dosn't start working at all.

Hi Susan,

I hope you are not still awaiting a reply!! However the answer is that the clock probably needs the attention of a qualified clock maker/repairer. If you are not in the UK my advice probably won't be much help anyway. In the UK we have an adult education service that sometimes provides classes in Clock Repair. Failing this a good clock repairer sounds like the best person to attend to your clock.

Good luck,
