Here are more solutions:
1. Check if the charger is plugged in, that the batteries are fully charged and that you installed them correctly. Sometimes they can shift inside the mouse due to improper positioning. An easy way to check this is by turning it over and making sure the red light in the middle is on and blinking. The contacts might also need cleaning or realignment.
2. Make sure there's no obstruction between the mouse and sensor. The mouse transmits an infrared beam that the sensor has to "read."
3. Make sure you've loaded the proper drivers & software. You'll get the basic mouse functions without it, but not all the wireless options. They should be on a CD-ROM that came with the mouse or you can download them off the Internet.
