how do i measure a double glazed unit?

hi i have upvc double glazed windows & a couple of them have misted up / condensation inside. i wish to replace them. what i need to know is how can i measure them for ordering the replacements WITHOUT taking them out to do it ? i dont want to dismantle them, measure the glass, put them back together, order new then take them apart again etc.
so is it possible to measure the glass in situ
any advice greatfully recieved cheers

you need to measure overall thickness too. eg: 20mm. this would equate in glazing terms to 4-12-4.
4 being the thickness of glass in mm and 12 being the space between again in mm.
you can get a tool fo this but expensive.
most beadings pop out easily.

measure the sight size between the beads and add 27 mm for the spacer bar and sealant ive been doing it 21 years no problem im a glazier

subtracting 10mm is not always applicable. e.g externally glazed units.

don't be tight and phone a double glazier for a free quote. Ask him for a copy of the sizes.

Measure from bead to bead and subtract 10mm

hi thanks for the reply
i was under the impression that getting the beading out was the tricky bit. i gather you have to remove it with a lot of pressure & i thought if there was a risk of cracking/breaking the glass it would be best to only do it once. if its best to remove the glass to measure it any suggestions how i go about getting it out
thanks for your help

In my experience the glass size can vary, so it would be much easier (and potentially less costly) to just pop the glass out. It should take about 30 seconds to remove the beading, and the same to put it back in again. It is not a dificult job.
