How do I make the floppy drive work?

How do I make the floppy drive work on my newly built pc.Floppy light is continuously on.Tried new drive but makes no difference.Have removed drivers and pc has searched and found new drivers.Still doesn't work.

sounds like the floppy drive cable is plugged in wrong direction, alter it so the red line on the drive cable is opposite direction.

Make sure on the cable going to the floppy has a few of the wires at one side of the connector twisted round, if the correct wire is being used then turn the cable round, it sounds like it is plugged in wrong.

It sounds as though it is not wired up correctly, but I imagine the connectors are quite difficult to plug in incorrectly.

I can't think what else would make the red light remain on. The drivers are unlikely to cause this.
