Disappearance of icons on computer?

Despite rebooting into the safe mode and then rebooting again, for some unknown reason, all my icons have disappeared, including the 'Start' icon, and the menu bar. I'm not sure why or how.

Any ideas what's caused this or how it can be fixed?

Right click on your desktop then highlight "arrange Icons By" another menu will open make sure there is a check mark beside "Show Desktop Icons" if not highlight it and click it once. Your Icons should be back.

Have you checked the display resolution,the start menu etc could be off the screen!
