How to i fix faulty hard drive and replace a hard drive?

On start up my computer will not boot from the hard drive.
I am truing to start uo a Elonex ProSentia, i get clicking noise and the notice "Disk Boot Failure"

How do i retrive the data on drive if it has to be replaced?

i also have the clicking noise mate. fortunately its not my operating system drive but it does have many important files i need to retrieve. It is a sata drive (samsung 320 gb 16mb cache) - would it be possible for you to help me out and take me through a guide? please respond asap - thanks, much appreciated.

hi paul, if you hear noise the hardrive is probably knakered,if you leave me ure email adress ill try and talk u through fixing it, its a bit complicated but it is fixable .

The clicking noise suggests mechanical failure of the hard disk. You need to replace it with new. Set new hard drive to master, install windows. then connect old drive to ide cable and set to slave. If you're lucky you will be able to copy and paste your documents to the new HDD!
