Not to update but to reset...remove the four corner 'pads' and remove the screws. gently pry apart the case and remove the battery connector on the motherboard. (It is a clear connector that pulls up toward the top of the device (the phone jack is at the top). That will reset the circuits and may solve some rather weird problems (constant power up, PC not talking to it, etc)
