Make sure all the wires in the bak of the XBOX are in correctly as when the picture wire isnt the ligth flashes red.

I had that exact same problem with my xbox 360 when i first got it, i phones up microsoft and they told me it was a critical error. So they sent me a new one.

why dont you contact microsoft or open the xbox and see if something is wrong inside of it
