My dvd player wont work?

when i try to play a dvd it says there isnt one in drive d

Hi Cheryl - if you just added the DVD drive and there is also a CD drive you need to change the jumper settings on your DVD drive to show it as a "Slave". The instructions to do this should have been included with your DVD drive. The jumpers are located in the back of the drive next to where the big ribbon connects. Your computer cannot read from the disk because there is a conflict between your old drive and the new one. Hope this helps.

What OS are you running. I'm having the same problem. I've got vista home premium. If you've got the same then look in System Tools, system information, components, problem devices.
Mine lists the dvd player and the isatap adapter, saying that windows could not load the drivers.
I've just loaded Norton 360, thats when the problem occurred.
I can't uninstall it because the drive wont read the uninstall disc. I've just emailed the computer manufacturer. I'll keep you posted.
Have you tried a system restore ?
