My samsung yepp is not working, when i turn it on the display reads "Device not working, connect to pc and run recovery utility to repair device". But when i connect the player to my pc via usb, the utility does run and my pc freezes. I need help as i do not want to buy a new mp3 player.

Have the power supply plugged in at the same time - should work. Then use utility programme to repair - takes a while but has worked for me in the past. Word of warning - I also upgraded my firmware and my machine is dead now - it is asking for a font file that doesn't exist - it tells me to run the repair utility, but even reformatting is not fixing the problem. I've even tried to install the old firmware again, but it is still not working.

If you get yours working, could you look at the files on the 920 (use explorer and look in system/font) If there is a font file there, could you mail it to me jamesbb@btconnect.com). If anybody else is reading this and has a font file in their font directory - could you mail it to me!

Try plugging usb lead into a powered usb hub. Mine would not work either when plugged into computer. The Samsung takes too much current for the internal USB to work or be recongnised by XP. and thus causing all sorts of probs as you have found out.
