Pilot light has gone out?

I have a Potterton Netaheat 10/16 boiler. The pilot light has gone out. I have had British Gas look at it and they say the gas valve has packed up and they cannot get the spare part and the only option is to have a new boiler. is this correct?

You will struggle. The Netaheat never had a pilot it was fan flued and is now obsolete.A gasvalve will cost a small fortune even if you can get one anyway. Its probably the solenoid on the valve that has gone but the valve was a one off to this kind of boiler so you cant fit any other type.
