My Mustek PL207 reads no disc all the time?

Starts up great but reads no disc over and over. Any suggestions?

I am trying to find out why all of a sudden I cannot turn my portable DVD 10 inch player on. I checked cord to electrical outlet as well as plug in to player.

.............and won't switch off, unless batteries removed. Problem occurred after downloading pictures to pc. No probs for two years before. Mustek did not reply to email.
